Requesting a Declaration Letter
Clients requesting a Declaration Letter from the Guyana Gold Board (GGB) must provide the information and documentation outlined below to ensure timely and accurate processing.
- Sales to Licensed Dealers/Traders
- Indicate whether you have sold gold to any licensed dealer or trader.
- If yes, you are required to obtain and submit a letter from the dealer/trader confirming the specific period for which the declaration is requested.
- Important: Requests will not be processed without this confirmation letter.
- Sales to Guyana Gold Board Branches
- State whether you have sold gold to the Corporate Office (Georgetown) or any of GGB’s branch offices.
- If applicable, list all branches where sales were made.
- Recipient of the Declaration Letter
- Clearly state the name of the individual or organisation to whom the Declaration Letter should be addressed. An address should also be included for the recipient.
- Note: GGB does not issue open or blank letters (e.g., “To Whom It May Concern”).
- Authorisation for Collection of Letters
- If a representative will collect the letter on your behalf, they must present:
- A signed authorisation letter from you; and
- A valid form of identification (National ID Card, Passport, or Driver’s Licence).
- Note: If a standing authorisation is already on file with the Compliance Department, it will be accepted.
- If a representative will collect the letter on your behalf, they must present:
- Exceptional Cases
- If your sales were conducted through an authorised dealer who is no longer licensed by GGB, requests will be processed based on GGB’s official records.
