Requesting a Declaration Letter

Clients requesting a Declaration Letter from the Guyana Gold Board (GGB) must provide the information and documentation outlined below to ensure timely and accurate processing.

  1. Sales to Licensed Dealers/Traders
    • Indicate whether you have sold gold to any licensed dealer or trader.
    • If yes, you are required to obtain and submit a letter from the dealer/trader confirming the specific period for which the declaration is requested.
    • Important: Requests will not be processed without this confirmation letter.
  2. Sales to Guyana Gold Board Branches
    • State whether you have sold gold to the Corporate Office (Georgetown) or any of GGB’s branch offices.
    • If applicable, list all branches where sales were made.
  3. Recipient of the Declaration Letter
    • Clearly state the name of the individual or organisation to whom the Declaration Letter should be addressed. An address should also be included for the recipient.
    • Note: GGB does not issue open or blank letters (e.g., “To Whom It May Concern”).
  4. Authorisation for Collection of Letters
    • If a representative will collect the letter on your behalf, they must present:
      • A signed authorisation letter from you; and
      • A valid form of identification (National ID Card, Passport, or Driver’s Licence).
    • Note: If a standing authorisation is already on file with the Compliance Department, it will be accepted.
  5. Exceptional Cases
    • If your sales were conducted through an authorised dealer who is no longer licensed by GGB, requests will be processed based on GGB’s official records.
